Albums

Toto's discography includes 13 studio albums and 4 live albums. There are also a few compilations. Toto has released original music as well as collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The band has won multiple Grammy Awards for their work.

Before the formation of Toto the band, members performed session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to the formation of Toto in 1976.



Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics for not having hit singles. In 1985 the singer Fergie Frederiksen left the group and the group held auditions for a new frontman. The band chose guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in the year 1986.

Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The band went through old tapes and recordings to create the special record. The album was a hit by fans, and the band embarked on a tour that featured former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro, and Joseph Williams.

During the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun, drummer Leland Sklar departed from the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set called Falling in Between, which included live recordings from the tour and an interview with the group.
