Why No One Cares About Toto Asia
The Band Toto Asia
Toto expanded its production facilities overseas, and was doing business in France and Germany, Indonesia, Korea and Taiwan, Thailand and the People's Republic of China. The company saw North America as a growth market for Washlet bidets and toilets, in contrast to its "base" markets of Japan and China.
Dhaniram Toto recorded Toto words to ensure that the future generation could be able to read the words. However, many words were being replaced with foreign words, such as dui from Bengali for verandah.

Established in 1917, Toto's beginnings mirrored Japan's development. In the early years of its existence, the company produced goods to meet demand for new, modern urban housing. It had the first tunnel kiln in the nation to continuously produce ceramics. It also pioneered the use of automation to control production, allowing for more efficiency and consistency.
The company began expanding internationally in the late 1980s to benefit from new markets and sales opportunities. It established the Cera Trading Company, importing and selling other manufacturers' products to complement its own range of plumbing fittings and sanitary earthenware. This strategy increased sales and expanded the firm's market share in the world.
By the 1990s, Toto had shifted its emphasis on research and development of household appliances that are water-related. It also redesigned its system of distribution to better serve its customers and increase profit. The company embraced a just-in time method of managing supply chains, and it used the same methodology for its sales process. This resulted in a greater level of satisfaction with the customer.
Toto continued to develop toilet technology. The latest toilet, for example it has an extremely powerful tornado flush that is more ecologically green than traditional toilets. The company also makes use of recycled water in its production process and has a green procurement policy. In addition to toilets, Toto manufactures faucets and bathtubs and hand dryers that are more energy efficient than conventional models.
The first museum of the company opened in the year 2015 and features exhibits on Toto's most iconic products and their development as well as its group companies (all related to ceramics) and the history of plumbing and other products like bath units, and in a separate gallery, Toto products sold around the world. The museum even has a bathroom that features a WASHLET toilet and other toilet-related innovations.
Before forming Toto the band, members of the group did session work for various musicians. Keyboardist David Paich, drummer Jeff Porcaro and guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather all performed on the album Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs. They also performed on albums by Steely Don, Seals and Crofts and Sonny and Cher.
Discography
With a name as evocative as Asia one would think that the group would be prog kings and queens - but it's actually a pretty straight forward rock group. The band began as a four-piece and released two albums: 1979's self-titled debut and 1980's Armed to the Teeth. However, even though the group have a variety of musical backgrounds, their biggest success was achieved in 1982 with Toto IV.
The album was a major blockbuster, but it was not without its own set of issues. The record companies placed Toto under pressure to deliver a hit single or they would rescind them. Luckily for Toto they did with the help of the smash hit single "Africa."
Toto's musical mastery owes a lot to their previous experience since the members had been session musicians for artists like Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, and Seals and Crofts before starting the group. Their distinctive sound has become the standard for '80s music, influencing many contemporary artists.
The album begins hard with songs such as Running Out of Time or Unknown Soldier that show the band's ability to write great AOR songs that slowly sink into your head. But the album also contains some slower, more jazzy tracks such as The Little Things and Chinatown. The album concludes with Great Expectations. This song is a mix of folk and distortion AOR that could seem like a complete blunder, but works very well.
After Toto IV, the band's fortunes changed for the worse. David Hungate left to concentrate on his solo career and the band had to go through several drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball left the band after drug charges. The band continued with Michael Porcaro, Steve Lukather and Michael Porcaro.
Toto released Isolation despite the turmoil. It was not as well-liked as IV. However, the band was able to release a chart-topping album in the year 1992 with Kingdom of Desire. The album was the last of Toto's lineup and the debut of Simon Phillips, a new vocalist.

Steve Lukather and Joe Williams have formed a strong and vibrant friendship that flourishes professionally on a worldwide basis. Line-up
The album's third, Turn Back, marked an reversion to the classic sextet style of previous albums and was a stronger, more consistent effort that had an edge that was more pronounced than Hydra. The more edgier sound of Turn Back reflected the maturation in the group. Bobby Kimball's growing virtuosity was reflected by the vocals of Joseph Williams, who had grown more confident and mature. David Paich's keyboard work was also more sophisticated, sharper, and less derivative on previous recordings.
After touring to promote the album, the band recorded a live performance in Amsterdam which was released as a two-CD set titled Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. A new studio album followed a few months later, and the group went on an extensive world tour in support of the album. In this time keyboardist Greg Phillinganes replaced Paich and bassist David Hungate quit the group to spend time with his family.
In 1998, Paich and Lukather started searching through old tapes and demos for a new album featuring songs that had never been recorded before. It was completed as a double-album titled Then & Now in 2001. It was the first album by the band without a single song titled "A". The album also included a previously unreleased track called "Kari-Anne".
By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The group's fourth album, Old Is New was not a commercial success and vocalist Williams was suffering from laryngitis, which restricted his singing capabilities. Additionally, Hungate returned to Nashville as a drummer, and Leland Sklar was replaced by Shem von Schroeck.
Downes, Wetton Palmer and Howe, the original members of Asia The original Asia members met in England early in 2006 to discuss the possibility that the band could be revived. This lineup, minus Howe who was occupied with Yes during that time, became Toto XIV. They toured extensively.
In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The group also had an appearance by singer Michael McDonald, and a backing singer named Mabvuto Carpenter.
